FoamCoat. We're not just a roofing company

DYNO NOBEL INC. DOME

PROJECT

Dyno Nobel had water coming in, potentially from both leaks and condensation, in their dome in Kenova, WV. They selected FoamCoat to solve the problem with the application of urethane spray foam and coating to the outside of the 50,000 square feet of the dome.

CHALLENGES

The site did not provide favorable access for the equipment FoamCoat needed to accomplish the task. However, the more obvious and difficult challenge was the shape of the domed structure. Peaking at roughly one-hundred feet in the air, the dome’s curved surface made it difficult to work on and slowed the spraying process significantly.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  • Volatile Free, Inc. primer was applied to the surface of the dome
  • One and a half inches (1.5”) of 3lb foam was applied
  • Volatile Free, Inc. single component urethane coating was applied
RESULT

The job was completed ahead of schedule in roughly six weeks time. Safety procedures worked extremely well and no one was hurt. The customer has reported no problems to date with the dome and the dome is dry and water-tight.
